Intrusions

Mountains are subject to a constant aggression and scars blighting the landscape are becoming more and more obvious.
Winter sports tourism has accelerated and increased human settlements on the Alps, an intrusion that has inexorably changed the landscape.
In order to compensate for the poor rainfalls and to extend the ski season, the use of artificial snow is growing, plants with a high environmental impact because of their excessive use of water and energy.
The already fragile land is constantly attacked by property speculation and construction of facilities which are often oversized and remain poorly used.
The necessary balance between economic development and preservation of the Alpine territory seems difficult to achieve.

Intrusions has been selected for the 12th edition of Boutographies, the "Rencontres photographiques of Montpellier".
